Timo Werner has followed Chelsea teammate Romelu Lukaku in suffering an injury during the first half of Wednesday's Champions League fixture with Malmo.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel made the decision to select both attackers in his starting lineup for the Blues' important encounter against the Swedish top-flight leaders.
However, after Lukaku had lasted just 22 minutes before sustaining an ankle issue, Werner also failed to make it to half time before picking up an injury.
The Germany international had been attempting to get into the box to provide an option for a low cross, only to pull up once he had entered the six-yard box.
Despite receiving treatment for what appeared to be a hamstring problem, the physio team quickly indicated that the attacker needed to be withdrawn from the action.
Callum Hudson-Odoi was introduced in place of Werner, with Kai Havertz having replaced Lukaku 20 minutes earlier.
Chelsea still managed to reach half time with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Andreas Christensen and Jorginho. body check tags ::
