Chelsea handed triple injury boost ahead of Burnley game

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino delivers a positive injury update on three Chelsea players ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture at Burnley.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Moises Caicedo and Mykhaylo Mudryk will both be fit for Chelsea's Premier League fixture at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Both players made a positive impact during the 2-0 victory over Fulham at the beginning of the week, with Mudryk netting his first goal in a Blues shirt.

However, the Ukraine international was withdrawn at half time courtesy of what was described as a minor issue with his thigh.

Furthermore, Caicedo picked up a knock during added-on time at Craven Cottage, resulting in his late withdrawal, and there have been doubts over whether either player will be able to participate against the Clarets.

Nevertheless, Pochettino has revealed that both players are available for selection, as well as acknowledging that Carney Chukwuemeka is also back in contention after a knee injury.

Speaking to reporters, the Argentine said: "Yes, both in the squad, we will decide later whether they have a chance for the start.

"It was close last week (for Carney) to join us. This week has trained well, I still have not decided, I need to check with Jesus [Perez] and the medical staff."

Pochettino was also able to offer a positive update on Reece James, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the opening weekend of the season.

Although James is serving a one-game suspension this weekend, Pochettino has hinted that the club captain may be in a position to return against Arsenal after the international break.

He added: "We are really happy with the way he is recovering. We hope that he has the possibility to be involved after his suspension."

Prior to the media briefing, Chelsea released an injury update that revealed that seven players remain sidelined heading into the international break.

Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah are in partial team training, while Marcus Bettinelli, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku are said to be continuing with their rehabilitation programmes.

Ben Chilwell, meanwhile, is in the early stages of his recovery from a hamstring injury, Pochettino unable to confirm reports that the left-back will be out of action until at least December. body check tags ::
