Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole has urged the team to use the League Cup win over Chelsea as a springboard to help them avoid relegation in the Premier League.
The rock-bottom Black Cats squeezed past the Blues 2-1 after extra time to go through to the semi-finals.
"You could say that this positive performance and great win gives us the momentum to keep our season alive," Cattermole told Sky Sports News.
"[Coming into this week] Saturday was the priority [against Norwich City] but I think this win gives us the belief and the win is massive for the whole squad you know."
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was unhappy with his side's lack of killer instinct.
