Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Cheltenham Town and Wycombe Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Cheltenham Town and Wycombe Wanderers square off on Saturday afternoon with both clubs putting three-match League One unbeaten streaks on the line.

However, the teams sit in 19th and 10th place respectively in the standings, ensuring that this remains an important fixture at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.

Match preview

There have been signs in recent weeks that Wycombe are not the team that they once were under Gareth Ainsworth with just three wins coming from nine League One games before last week's trip to Forest Green Rovers.

Wycombe also bowed out of the FA Cup to Walsall during that period, but there is an argument that overcoming the bottom-placed club in their most recent outing has salvaged their campaign.

Ainsworth's side were able to control the contest after two goals in the opening 27 minutes, Wanderers now into 10th place and just three points drift of the playoffs.

Nevertheless, there is the expectancy that the teams above them will only improve, and Wycombe will eventually have to improve on a run of just 12 points from nine games at Adams Park.

On a more positive note, three successive victories have been recorded on their travels ahead of facing a vulnerable Cheltenham side.

Despite last weekend's shock draw at Ipswich Town, five defeats had come from their previous seven games in all competitions, including the embarrassment of losing to non-league Alvechurch in the FA Cup.

Although Wade Elliott can be encouraged by just four goals being conceded in five games, Cheltenham continue to possess the worst attacking record in the division.

That said, all but four of their league goals have come at their home ground, where four victories have been posted in their most recent six outings.

Team News

Cheltenham will be forced into at least one alteration with Lewis Freestone having collected his fifth yellow card of the season last time out.

Ben Williams could deputise on the left-hand side of the back three, allowing for Reece Hutchinson to play at wing-back.

Barring any fitness issues, the remainder of the team which started the draw at Ipswich could keep their spots.

Wycombe are also missing a player through suspension after Alfie Mawson was cautioned for the fifth time in the game with Forest Green.

Jack Grimmer could switch inside to the centre of defence, with Jason McCarthy coming back into the team at right-back.

Cheltenham Town possible starting lineup:
Southwood; Long, Raglan, Williams; Broom, Bonds, Sercombe, Hutchinson; Olayinka; N'Lundulu, Norton

Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Stryjek; McCarthy, Grimmer, Tafazolli, Jacobson; Scowen, Freeman; McCleary, Wheeler, Mehmeti; Vokes

We say: Cheltenham Town 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers

Having shaken off their FA Cup disappointment, Cheltenham will feel that they are the marginal favourites ahead of this contest. However, Wycombe needed last week's result at Forest Green, and we feel that it could act as the catalyst for a second win in succession.
