Crystal Palace forward Marouane Chamakh has revealed that he is "really happy" to have signed a new deal with the club.

The 30-year-old penned a two-year contract extension at Selhurst Park last Friday.

Chamakh scored six goals in 34 games last season after joining Palace on a free transfer from Arsenal.

"I'm really happy because I really wanted to stay with Crystal Palace and with the group I played with last season," he told the club's official website.

"I enjoyed myself more last season than I have for a long time because I feel good around the players and the new staff. I am so happy to continue being a part of that group. I really wanted that."

Chamakh and his Palace teammates begin the new Premier League campaign with a trip to Arsenal on August 16.
