FC Dallas secured a 1-0 win in their 2013 Major League Soccer opener against Colorado Rapids thanks to a goal from Jackson.
The visitors started the game strongly and went close twice through Atiba Harris and Drew Moor but neither could hit the target.
The Rapids were made to pay for these misses as Jackson picked up David Ferreira's through-ball and fired a right-footed shot into the net.
Pablo Mastroeni tried to respond straight away for the visitors but Raul Fernandez was able to save his shot comfortably.
Michel nearly doubled Dallas's lead just before the break with a curling shot from a tight angle on the left, but Steward Ceus was there to make the stop.
After the break, Colorado pushed for an equaliser as Harris and Hendry Thomas went close but neither could find a way past Fernandez.
As the game wore on, Dallas were looking to press the visitors on the break but Andrew Jacobson and Kenny Cooper both missed decent chances to double their side's lead.
However, this wasn't to cost the hosts as they held out for the win.
