DC United cruised to a 3-0 win over Toronto FC in Major League Soccer this evening.
The Washington outfit took the lead in the eighth minute when Eddie Johnson sprung up in the area to head home a cross from Perry Kitchen.
Toronto responded well and dominated play for the remainder of the first half but could not find an equaliser, despite Jermain Defoe and Michael Bradley coming close.
They were punished for their wastefulness in the 59th minute when Nick DeLeon picked out Chris Rolfe in the box, allowing the forward to rifle home from close range.
Things got even worse for Toronto as the day wore on as Nick Hagglund put through his own goal in the 67th minute to dump more misery on his side come the final whistle.
