Sports Mole provides live text commentary of the League Cup first-round match between Portsmouth and Derby County at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth booked their place in the second round of the League Cup by beating Derby County 2-1 at Fratton Park.

Adam McGurk gave Pompey the lead early in the second half when his header crept past goalkeeper Lee Grant.

The Rams then equalised when Jason Shackell rose highest at the back post to nod in from a corner.

It took Portsmouth just three minutes to regain their lead, as Conor Chaplin turned in a cross from Enda Stevens to give his side the victory.

Find out how the action unfolded below.

Hello everyone! We saw plenty of shocks in the League Cup last night, as seven Championship clubs were knocked out by teams from the lower leagues. Will there be another upset tonight at Fratton Park, as Derby County make the trip to face League Two outfit Portsmouth.
Derby started life under new manager Paul Clement on Saturday with a goalless draw against Bolton Wanderers. They were perhaps fortunate to pick up a point, with the Trotters hitting the bar three times, and they will be looking to hit up some form today.
Meanwhile, Pompey were also in action over the weekend and they recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge in their opening match. It was just the start they needed and it will surely give them great confidence coming into tonight's clash.
PORTSMOUTH XI: Jones, Davies, Webster, Clarke, Haunstrup, Close, Hollands, Evans, McGurk, Bennett, Stockley
DERBY XI: Grant, Forsyth, Dawkins, Hendrick, Russell, Baird, Ssewankambo, Shackell, Pearce, Weimann, Bent
PORTSMOUTH SUBS: Murphy, Burgess, Stevens, Tollitt, Atangana, Chaplin, Tubbs
DERBY SUBS: Carson, Keogh, Martin, Ince, Hanson, Thorne, Warnock
TEAM NEWS: Derby have made eight changes from the weekend, with Alex Pierce and Isak Ssewankambo handed their debuts and Andreas Weimann given his first start for the club. There are also plenty of alterations made by the home side, as there are seven changes from the team who beat Dagenham.
It is probably fair to say that Derby are more interested in winning promotion to the Premier League this season than putting together a cup run. For long periods during the last campaign it seemed as if the club would at least make the playoffs, but a dismal run of just two wins in 13 games saw them end the season in eighth place.
They actually needed just a single point from their final match of the season against Reading, but they collapsed completely and fell to a 3-0 defeat. Their draw against Bolton on Saturday means that they are now four games without a win, and a defeat to a League Two side would be far from ideal ahead of this weekend's match with Charlton Athletic.
Over the years neither of these clubs have made too much of an impact on the League Cup, with Derby reaching the semi-final twice in their history and Portsmouth going no further than the last eight. Derby actually made it to the fifth round last season, before they were eventually beaten by Premier League champions Chelsea.
Right, we're just three minutes away from kick off and both teams are now out on the pitch. There is a superb atmosphere around the ground, so let's hope that it contributes to a great game this evening.
KICKOFF! We are underway at the Fratton Park!
It's been quite a scrappy opening to the match, but Derby look the better of the two teams. They have managed to string together some decent passing moves and Weimann has shown his threat down the right with a good run and cross that was well gathered by the keeper.
Weimann has been lively in these opening minutes and the Austrian gets away from his marker and looks to reach a ball over the top. However, it is just slightly out of his reach and Jones is quickly off his line to hammer the ball to safety.
Over the past few minutes we have seen the hosts get on the ball in some dangerous areas. They have delivered a couple of telling crosses into the box, with the latest delivery from Davies pounced upon by Grant.
Portsmouth win the first set piece of the game when they are awarded a free kick just inside their opponents' half. They get plenty of men up and Bennett goes across to take it, but his delivery is well overhit and drifts harmlessly out for a goal kick.
SHOT! Pompey are enjoying a really good spell in the match and they are taking the game to Derby. They haven't been able to trouble Grant yet though, and McGurk's effort from just inside the box is dragged well wide of the far post.
SHOT! It's another effort on goal and the hosts are coming closer. This time Bennett cuts inside from the left and is allowed space to shoot outside the box. He tries to drill a low effort into the bottom corner, but he doesn't catch the ball cleanly and it rolls a few inches wide of the target.
I'm sure that Portsmouth's manager will be delighted at what he he seen from his players in the opening 20 minutes, as they are bossing the match and seeing most of the ball. However, he will know that they must take advantage while they are on top, as Derby have the quality of players needed to make the difference at any moment.
Portsmouth have had a few corners now, but they haven't looked too threatening from set pieces. They have tried a number of deep deliveries to the back post, with their latest attempt cleared once again by the visitors.
SHOT! If we are going to see a goal in this first half, then Bennett may well be involved. The midfielder scored twice at the weekend against Dagenham and he is certainly not shy on confidence. He hasn't found his shooting boots this evening though, as he drills a low effort from around 25 yards out quite some way off the target.
Bent is cutting a frustrated figure at the moment in the Derby attack and the striker has barely seen any of the ball. He has been left isolated by his teammates, who are not putting enough pressure on the opposition and are allowing Portsmouth too much time and space.
CHANCE! Derby have hardly seen any of the ball in recent minutes, but they have a great chance to take the lead. Weimann is picked out inside the box by Forsyth and he manages to get his shot away, but Webster is there to make a vital block and he deflects it wide for a corner.
SHOT! The hosts deal with the corner from Derby and quickly break forward in numbers. The ball is eventually played to Haunstrup on the left and he works some room before firing in a powerful drive that is turned over the bar by Grant.
SHOT! Bennett is again involved for Derby when he is picked out in space in the middle. He then gets the ball onto his left foot and tries to pick out the top corner, but once again the shot isn't great and fails to trouble the keeper.
Derby look as if they are going to try a more direct route and a couple of long balls played forward are flicked on by Bent, with Weimann trying to latching onto them. The Austrian almost manages to get through on goal, but the hosts have plenty of men back covering to clear the danger.
The Rams may not have had the greatest of first halfs, but they have shown some genuine moments of danger. This time Russell is sent clear down the left and he whips a teasing low cross into the box looking for Bent, but Clarke is there to mop up the danger and he clears the ball out for a corner.
SHOT! Derby put together a great move with Hendrick exchanging passes with Dawkins and charging towards the box. The midfielder then gets within shooting range and drives in a low strike that bobbles narrowly wide of the far post.
HALF-TIME: Portsmouth 0-0 Derby
It's goalless at half time between Portsmouth and Derby, with neither side really coming close to breaking the deadlock. There has been plenty of good moves and some flowing football, but we are still yet to see a shot on target.
Here's how the statistics shape up from the first half. Portsmouth were seeing plenty of the ball in the early stages of the match, but a decent period for Derby towards the end of half has left the teams level in the possession stakes. The hosts have also had four attempts on goal, which is one more than the Rams have managed.
Paul Clement will be hoping that his side show more initiative after the break and make their quality count. They look to have struggled after making so many changes at the weekend, but on a couple of occasions they have got in behind and put some really threatening crosses into the box.
The visitors take the kick off for the second half and get the action back underway!
SHOT! This is a lot better from Derby. Weimann receives the ball just outside the box and he takes a great touch to burst through on goal. He is at a tight angle, but still attempts the shot, which takes a slight deflection off Haunstrup and crashes into the side netting.
GOAL! Portsmouth 1-0 Derby (Adam McGurk)
We may well have another shock on the cards in this week's League Cup, as the hosts break the deadlock. Stockley gets in down the right and whips a great ball into the middle that is headed into the net by McGurk. However, it really should have been saved by Grant, who somehow allowed it to creep past him and into the corner.
Derby push forward on the attack as they look for an immediate equaliser and they end up winning a corner. Russell goes across to take the set piece and his floated delivery is met by Pearce, who ends up planting his header a few yards over the bar.
SUBSTITUTION: The hosts are going to make the first change of the match, with the goalscorer McGurk being replaced by Stevens.
CHANCE! The momentum is firmly with the home side and they threaten to double their lead when Stockley sees a header saved by Grant. The ball then comes out to Davies, who tries to pick out the bottom corner, but once more the keeper saves.
DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION: Derby are going to make a couple of changes, with Martin and Ince coming on for Bent and Dawkins.
SHOT! Bennett has been a really tricky customer for Derby this evening and he evades a couple of challenges, before getting to the edge of the box and drilling in a strike that is well blocked. The ball the deflects into the path of Evans, but long-range attempt is struck high and wide of the target.
The next goal really is crucial in this match, as a second goal for Pompey will surely kill the tie. The hosts are looking the more likely team to find the net, with Derby struggling to get out of their own half at the moment.
You really have to give a lot of credit to Portsmouth for their performance this evening. They haven't looked overwhelmed or outclassed by their opponents at all this evening, and as things stand, it is they who are heading into the second round of the cup.
SUBSTITUTION: It's a third and final change for Derby, as Thorne comes on for Ssewankambo.
SUBSTITUTION: The hosts are also going to make a sub, with Chaplin on to replace Haunstrup.
GOAL! Portsmouth 1-1 Derby (Jason Shackell)
Derby finally manage to get a shot on target and it ends up in the back of the net. It comes from a corner, as Shackell climbs highest at the back post to meet Russell's delivery, before planting a firm header past Jones. The hosts will feel that they could have defended it better, but Derby won't mind one bit.
GOAL! Portsmouth 2-1 Derby (Conor Chaplin)
He's only been on the pitch for five minutes, but teenager Chaplin has fired Portsmouth back into the lead! The striker was picked out inside the box by Stevens, and he allowed the ball to come across him, before guiding a superb low strike into the corner.
PENALTY APPEAL! Derby feel that they should have a penalty when Russell is brought down on the edge of the box by Hollands. However, the referee gives a free kick, which Russel takes and curls over the bar.
Derby are on the attack and they are pushing the hosts back towards their own box. They are working it around nicely between their midfielders and are looking for gaps to open up, but the commitment from the hosts is brilliant and they are working hard to keep the Rams at bay.
It's still all Derby as we enter the last five minutes of the game. They haven't shown too many signs of their attacking prowess this evening, but another set piece could see them level the scores once more.
An equaliser just doesn't look on the cards for Derby at the moment, despite their constant pressure. They have whipped some decent balls into the box and fired in a couple of long-range strikes, but the home defence have cleared everything that has come their way.
There are going to be at least four minutes of stoppage time. Will it be enough for Derby to take this game to extra time?
CHANCE! Martin comes close for Derby when he is played the ball just outside the box and has space to turn. He then drills in a low strike towards the bottom-right corner, but the ball goes a few inches wide of the target.
YELLOW CARD! It's taken 94 minutes, but the referee has shown the first card of the match to Thorne for a foul on Chaplin.
FULL-TIME: Portsmouth 2-1 Derby
What a week it has been in the League Cup, as an eighth team from the Championship is knocked out. Derby have become the latest victims against a very impressive Portsmouth side. The hosts were fantastic this evening and youngster Conor Chaplin's goal has put them into the draw for the second round.
Our coverage may be over this evening, but make sure you return tomorrow for more League Cup action, as Doncaster Rovers look to cause another shock against Yorkshire rivals Leeds United. Until then, goodbye!
