Derby County manager Steve McClaren is reportedly keen to bolster his striking options by signing Aston Villa striker Darren Bent.
The former England international is currently nearing the end of his loan stint with Brighton & Hove Albion, when he will return to Villa.
However, the 30-year-old is not a part of Villa manager Paul Lambert's plans and a result, he is available for another loan stint during the January transfer window, according to PA.
The report adds that Championship high-flyers Derby are among those that would like to acquire Bent's services for the remainder of the campaign.
It is believed, though, that they could face competition for his signature from Crystal Palace, who have also been linked with a move for Swansea City frontman Bafetimbi Gomis.
