Fiorentina have confirmed after initial tests that Mario Gomez has suffered partial knee ligament damage during this afternoon's 1-1 draw with Cagliari.
Gomez went down early in the second half clutching his right knee and was unable to continue.
After examining the knee, club doctors have ruled out a break or tear, but admitted that the right knee is sprained with a partial rupture of the medial collateral ligament, according to Sky Sport Italia.
Fiorentina also lost winger Juan Cuadrado through injury early in the match, with the Colombian suffering a dislocated shoulder.
Both players will undergo further tests in the next few days before any timeline can be placed on their respective returns to first-team action.
