Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has said that his team used the negative atmosphere to their advantage against AC Milan at the San Siro.
Goals from Juan Vargas and Borja Valero either side of half time saw the Viola emerge 2-0 winners, seeing them into fourth place in Serie A.
"This was a delicate moment in which the team could've sought alibis, but instead the squad just sought the victory," the 39-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.
"Milan never looked able to get back into the game, as Fiorentina seemed to be in total control, even if we were a little tired in the second half and didn't go on the counter as much.
"Can Fiorentina get into the title race? I only know the season has just started, the table is very tight and anything can happen."
The Florence-based club play host to Sampdoria next Sunday.
