Fiorentina recorded an easy win over Siena in the Serie A this lunchtime.
The home side were threatening the Siena goal from the start, Alberto Aquilani and Facundo Roncaglia forcing early saves from Gianluca Pegolo.
Luca Toni put Fiorentina ahead after 15 minutes, heading in a Manuel Pasqual cross from close range.
The hosts were awarded a penalty three minutes later after Toni was brought down in the box by Felipe, David Pizarro converting the spot kick with a powerful strike to the right of Pegolo.
There was more misery for the visitors before half-time when Aquilani slotted home a strike from a Romulo cross.
Siena had a series of chances after the break, but Fiorentina continued to dominate the possession.
Ferreira Reginaldo secured a consolation for Siena, firing a shot past Norberto Murara Neto, but Toni soon restored Fiorentina's three-goal advantage with another header.
Massimo Paci was sent off late on after bringing Mounir El Hamdaoui down in the penalty area to pick up his second yellow card of the game, but Aquilani's penalty was off-target, denying the home side a fifth goal.
The win lifts Fiorentina up to fifth, while Siena are rooted to the foot of the table.
