Sports Mole

Forest Green Rovers welcome Accrington Stanley to the New Lawn on Tuesday in the sides' rearranged fixture from matchday four of the 2022-23 League One season.

Both teams head into this one off the back of respective defeats last time out and they will be looking to serve up a quick response.

Match preview

Forest Green Rovers suffered a third league defeat in a row on Saturday when they were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Shrewsbury town.

Ian Burchnall's men trailed in the 10th minute to Rekeil Pyke's opener before Jordan Shipley sealed the deal in the early exchanges of the second period.

As a result, the Green Army have slipped to 23rd place in the League One table, three points adrift of safety albeit with a game in hand.

Next up is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are yet to lose any of the previous five matches involving the sides dating back to 2005.

Having let in the joint-most goals on home turf in the entire division, Tuesday's hosts will need to tighten up at the back as they aim to turn what has been a woeful season around.

Accrington Stanley suffered a first league defeat of the campaign courtesy of a 2-0 loss against Ipswich Town at the Wham Stadium on Saturday.

Following a relatively uneventful opening 45 minutes, second-half goals from Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns put John Coleman's men to the sword.

The 'Owd Reds have dropped down to 18th place in the standings and are now five points behind Peterborough United in the last playoff spot with a game in hand.

Unbeaten in four of their most recent five games on the road, Tuesday's visitors have turned a corner away from home and now set out in search of another positive result on enemy territory.

Team News

Seamus Conneely will be pushing for a return to the starting XI having had to make do with a place on the Accrington Stanley bench last time out.

With three goals and one assist in six outings so far, 33-year-old Sean McConville is definitely one to keep an eye on for the away side.

Forest Green Rovers are set to be without the services of Bailey Cargill as the English defender missed the defeat to Shrewsbury through injury.

Having watched his side fail to score in four of their last five games across all competitions, Ian Burchnall is expected to mix things up in attack for this one.

Forest Green Rovers possible starting lineup:
McGee; Casey, Taylor-Moore, Bernard; O'Keeffe, Hendry, McAllister, Stevenson; Little, Peart-Harris, March

Accrington Stanley possible starting lineup:
Jensen; Clark, Tharme, Astley, Rodgers; Coyle, Leigh, Hamilton; Pritchard, McConville, Lowe

We say: Forest Green Rovers 1-0 Accrington Stanley

Forest Green Rovers have started their season poorly, and anything short of three points here would be less than ideal. We are tipping the home side to scrape a hard-fought victory at the end of the 90 minutes.
