Genoa have stretched their unbeaten run to four Serie A games with a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Catania.
Marco Motta had an early chance for the home side when he was played through on goal by Alberto Gilardino, but his shot was blocked, before Moussa Konate headed wide.
The hosts remained in control and took the lead in the 14th minute. Catania failed to clear a cross from the left and Luca Antonelli took advantage to slot past Mariano Andujar at the second attempt.
Catania's hopes of getting back into the game suffered a blow, as Giuseppe Bellusci was sent off for a second bookable offence just before half time.
After the break Gilardino had an opportunity to grab a second for his side, but he could only fire straight at Andujar from close range.
Gilardino had another fine chance to score for Genoa when he latched onto Konate's flick-on, but his chipped attempt went wide of the far post.
With five minutes left to play, Genoa make the game safe. Stefano Sturaro stole the ball inside the box, before lashing an effort across the keeper and into the bottom left-hand corner.
