Hannover have recorded a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg on the opening day of the 2013-14 Bundesliga season in a match that saw the visitors finish with nine men.
The hosts were pressed back in the early stages but quickly took the lead on the counter through Leon Andreasen, who guided home after collecting a precise through-ball from Mame Biram Diouf.
Wolfsburg's afternoon was then made considerably more difficult as Maximilian Arnold was shown a straight red card after 32 minutes.
The teenage midfielder went into a challenge with both sets of studs showing and despite fierce protests, was instantly sent off by the referee.
Hannover were lucky to keep their advantage just after the break as Wolfsburg midfielder Koo Ja-Cheol crashed a strike from distance off the crossbar.
Soon after Wolfsburg had a second player dismissed as defender Timm Klose picked up a second yellow card on his debut.
Despite creating a while host of chances, Hannover struggled to double their advantage until the 85th minute when Szabolcs Huszti finally put the result beyond question from close range.
