Hartlepool United are through to the second round of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over non-league side East Thurrock United.
Jonathan Franks scored a cracking goal when his shot from outside of the box flew into the bottom left-hand corner after 32 minutes.
Marlon Harewood and Sidney Schmeltz had great chances to double their lead before half time but they were guilty of missing some glorious opportunities.
After the break the home side continued to pile on the pressure and Brad Walker went close from 30 yards, while Schmeltz missed several second-half chances.
In the first half, East Thurrock almost took the lead when Mitchell Gilbey hit the post from 25 yards but the non-league outfit couldn't create any clear cut opportunities.
Franks added a late second when he headed in Harewood's cross from close range.
