Thomas Ince bagged a 41st-minute equaliser as Hull City held West Bromwich Albion to a 1-1 half-time draw in their third-round League Cup encounter at The Hawthorns.
Brown Ideye's opener after 15 minutes looked to be enough to earn the Baggies a slender lead at the break, but Ince pounced late in the first half to level matters.
Ideye fired the hosts ahead, tapping home from close range after Steve Harper saved Sebastian Blanco's header.
It proved to the goalscorer's last contribution of the game and he was soon substituted for Giorgos Samaras due to injury.
However, the Greek nearly doubled the advantage on the half-hour mark after firing wide, before Ince rendered it a costly miss by equalising with four minutes remaining in the half.
