Hull City recorded their first win since returning to the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Norwich City.

Robbie Brady's first-half penalty was enough to win the match for the hosts at the KC Stadium in a contest that saw them play just under 70 minutes with 10 men.

Yannick Sagbo was sent off in the 27th minute for an off-the-ball incident, but the Tigers managed to hold on for the victory.

Was the result fair?

In the end, it probably was just about. Norwich were well on top for much of the second half but just could not break down a resilient Hull City defence, who spent 70-odd minutes with a player less. Norwich weren't good enough and in the end it was Hull who wanted it more.

Hull City's performance

Things were on the up for the Tigers with a quarter of the game gone having just gone ahead through Brady's penalty. However, they faced an uphill challenge when Sagbo was sent off. But they managed to defend like heroes and ultimately deserved the win with their never-say-die attitude.

Norwich City's performance

Should have done better. They had an extra man for 70 minutes, but were not good enough with their decision making at times. They needed to be brighter, and although they improved after the break, they only have themselves to blame for leaving the KC Stadium with nothing.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Curtis Davies: It had to be one of the Hull defenders, but Davies stood out, not one for his head bandage, but because he kept going right until the final whistle. Hull began to tire, but Davies refused to lie down for Norwich and cleared away danger from left, right and centre.

Biggest Gaffe

This has to go to Sagbo purely because he risked his team's win after a stupid attempted head butt. Had Hull not saved his bacon by holding out for the victory, all the fingers would be pointing at the forward.

Referee performance

Mike Taylor wasn't the focus of the match, so that tells you all you need to know. He got the Sagbo sending-off spot on and was correct with all his bookings. A good afternoon for the referee.

Hull City: Hull travel to high-flying Manchester City next Saturday to continue their difficult run of fixtures away from home.

Norwich City: The Canaries are back at Carrow Road next weekend as they welcome Southampton to town.
