Hull City manager Steve Bruce has said that he is convinced that Nikica Jelavic will prove to be a "big acquisition" and justify the transfer fee that was spent on him.
The Tigers broke their previous transfer record by luring the Croatia international from Everton for a fee in the region of £7.5m earlier this week, with the 28-year-old handed his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Norwich City this afternoon.
Although the former Rangers striker was not on target at Carrow Road today, Bruce remains optimistic that his club-record signing will be a hit during his time at the KC Stadium.
He told reporters: "In the first hour, before he tired, he showed what a really good player he is. When we get him right he will be a big acquisition. He will score goals."
Jelavic will be joined at the club by Shane Long, who signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Yorkshire outfit on Friday.
