Robert Snodgrass scores one and sets up another in the space of three second-half minutes to help Hull City to a 2-1 win over Southampton.

Hull City have ended their six-game losing run in the Premier League by beating Southampton 2-1 at the KCOM Stadium this afternoon.

A first victory since August is not quite enough to lift the Tigers out of the drop zone, but they are now level on points with West Bromwich Albion in 18th.

City had to do it the hard way, however, recovering from an early Charlie Austin penalty thanks to goals from Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson in quick succession.

Austin edged his side ahead from the penalty spot after Curtis Davies felled Maya Yoshida inside the box, and there was a further blow to come for the hosts when both Will Keane and Abel Hernandez were taken off injured early on.

Hull soon grew into the game and created a good opening for Sam Clucas, who could only drag his effort wide from 16 yards out, while up the other end David Marshall had to be alert to prevent a second Austin goal.

Southampton, who had previously won their last six meetings against today's opponents - including all four in the Premier League - came close to bagging a second prior to the hour when Virgil van Dijk headed on to the bar.

Hull's comeback then began thanks to a left-footed Snodgrass shot from inside the box, before the Scotland international turned provider for Dawson to head into the top corner.

Marshall again rescued his side when twice keeping out Austin strikes, and Clucas got back to stop a shot on the line at the death, proving to be enough to get the Tigers back to winning ways in the top flight.
