Hull City keep up their promotion ambitions, beating Ipswich Town 2-1 thanks to a late Robert Koren goal.

Hull City remain in the Championship promotion places thanks to a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road this afternoon.

A late Robert Koren goal gave the away side all three points.

The visitors started the better of the two teams, pressing high to win a couple of corners. Jack Hobbs and David Meyler both missed early opportunities, though.

Ipswich almost scored an own goal not long after, when Ahmed El Mohamady's cross was chested back to the goalkeeper by Richard Stearman. The defender got it wrong, though, and had Scott Loach to thank for keeping the scores level.

There was nothing Loach could do about Robbie Brady's penalty on 30 minutes, though. Guirane N'Daw brought down Meyler in the box and the Irishman made no mistake from 12 yards out.

Ten minutes after half time the home side were level, when Anthony Wordsworth rose highest at a corner to head powerfully into the net.

Ipswich began to push for a winner after that but Daryl Murphy missed the target twice when in good positions.

With 10 minutes to go, a good save from David Stockdale denied Michael Chopra for the home side, before against the run of play, Hull took the lead.

Brady found space on the left before chipping the ball in. His cross was met by substitute Koren, who headed home.

Ipswich threw everything at Hull in the final minutes but were unable to find an equaliser.
