A special strike from Hernanes has given Inter Milan a 1-0 half-time lead over Roma at the San Siro.
Roma were bright in the early stages, but they were restricted to long-range efforts and Samir Handanovic was comfortable saving from Daniele De Rossi's speculative strike.
The lead belonged to the hosts in the 15th minute, and it was Hernanes who broke the deadlock in style as he followed some clever footwork on the edge of the box with an unstoppable strike.
A moment of hesitancy at the other end almost gifted Roma an equaliser, but Victor Ibarbo could only strike the post after collecting a loose ball in the box.
Despite allowing Roma to enjoy more of the possession, Inter looked comfortable heading into the break as the visitors continued to try their luck with long-distance efforts, with Radja Nainggolan firing over from 25 yards.
