Roberto Mancini has claimed that Fredy Guarin is repaying the faith Inter Milan have put in him following the 4-1 triumph over Atalanta in Serie A.

Guarin has played a key role in the Inter midfield since Mancini arrived at the San Siro for his second spell, and his manager was quick to pay tribute after the Colombian scored twice in Sunday's emphatic win.

"Fredy is a great player and it was strange to see him not performing to the best of his abilities earlier in the season. He's a very good midfielder and this will help him gain confidence and relax on the pitch," the Inter boss told the club's website.

"It's not vital for him to score but, of course, it helps. We put our faith in him and he's repaying us with some great form."

Inter moved up to ninth in Serie A with the win.
