Inter Milan's Champions League hopes have been dealt a blow with a 1-0 defeat at home to Bologna in Serie A.
Following a goalless first half, the visitors made the breakthrough in the 58th minute when Alberto Gilardino volleyed in Alessandro Diamanti's clipped pass.
Inter nearly equalised with 20 minutes left to play, but Gianluca Curci tipped Fredy Guarin's effort around the post.
Bologna could have sealed the victory late on when Rene Krhin saw his header pushed over the crossbar by Juan Pablo Carrizo, but it mattered little as they held on for the unlikely triumph.
