A late equaliser from Esteban Cambiasso earned Inter Milan a point in the 1-1 draw against Genoa this afternoon.
The first chance fell to Inter, but Cambiasso's effort was saved well by the goalkeeper.
After nine minutes, the home side continued to push forward and Diego Milito saw his shot blocked by the Genoa defence.
Juan Manuel Vargas broke free for Genoa a minute later, but he could not find the finish, putting his shot just wide.
Andrea Bertolacci was next to come close, though his effort was well defended by Inter.
Vargas came close again just before half time, but he could not give the away side the lead.
Rodrigo Palacio had the first opportunity of the second half, but the forward was quickly closed down by a staunch defence.
After 62 minutes, Christian Chivu's effort was again closed down by Genoa's back line.
Ciro Immobile then gave Genoa the lead, grabbing his goal after 77 minutes.
Inter piled forward in search of an equaliser and came close through Andrea Ranocchia's header, which went just wide.
The equaliser did come after some great work from Antonio Cassano, who set Cambiasso up for a header to make it 1-1.
Milito came close to snatching a later winner, but his header was scrambled away by Genoa.
The final whistle blew to confirm a point for each side.
