Juventus have one foot in the last 16 of the Europa League following a 2-0 home win against Trabzonspor in the first leg of their round-of-32 match.

Paul Pogba had the first chance for the hosts when he slid the ball into the path of Mauricio Isla, who managed to pick out Carlos Tevez in the box.

The former Manchester City striker launched an effort towards goal with his first touch, but lifted his effort just over the top of the bar.

After 16 minutes, the Serie A side opened the scoring when Tevez's deflected pass to Pogba fell into the path of on-loan forward Pablo Osvaldo, who unleashed a powerful drive into the back of the net after taking a touch.

Isla then tried his chance at goal by dancing into the box and past Trabzonspor's defensive line to unleash a close-range shot, but the goalkeeper was able to block the path of the ball.

The home side continued to dominate at the start of the second half, but failed to make the most of their opportunities.

Pogba hammered a volley wide and then Osvaldo was unable to beat Onur Kivrak with a low, curling effort.

Trabzonspor gradually started to have more of the ball and thought they had equalised with 70 minutes played.

Paulo Henrique latched on to a through-ball and ran past Gianluigi Buffon. The ball was pulled back for Olcan Adin, who found the net. However, the flag was raised as it had already crossed the line and a corner was given.

Juventus finally scored their second goal of the evening with virtually the last kick of the game. Tevez pulled the ball back to the edge of the area where Pogba arrived to sidefoot it in the back of the net.
