Shanghai Shenhua striker Didier Drogba rejected a deadline-day move to Juventus, according to reports.
Last week, it was reported that the Ivory Coast international would be released from his contract due to a power struggle between the club's directors.
Zhu Jun, Shanghai's chairman, reportedly threatened to stop paying Drogba's salary unless he was allowed to increase his stake in the club.
Those rumours were later dismissed by the striker's PR company, but the London Evening Standard reports that the Bianconeri tried to tempt the 34-year-old with a two-year £76,000-per-week deal.
The move would have seen Drogba become the club's second-highest earner behind Gianluigi Buffon.
