Andrea Pirlo will reportedly complete a switch from Juventus to New York City FC by the end of next week.
The 36-year-old, who joined the Old Lady in 2011, was expected to remain in Turin until his current deal expires in 12 months' time.
However, after being spotted in New York this week, speculation is rife that the Italy international could now be ready to call time on his career in European football.
It has been suggested by Goal.com that a move to newly-formed Major League Soccer side NYCFC will be sealed by next Friday.
Pirlo helped guide Juventus to a domestic double last season in Italy, but his campaign ended on a low note as Barcelona claimed a 3-1 win in the Champions League final.
