Kasimpasa will look to keep themselves out of the Turkish Super Lig relegation zone on Wednesday when they compete in their first game of the new year against Alanyaspor.
The visitors currently sit ninth in the table and head into this game on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Match preview
Kasimpasa kick-started 2023 just outside of the relegation zone in 15th place, and only goal difference is keeping them in that place right now.
That adds plenty of pressure to the upcoming midweek performance as they could end up slipping into that position even with a victory due to how close things are at the moment.
However, Ekrem Orenc will need to see his team improve their recent performances to achieve that goal as they have gone four games without a win in all competitions.
That included their most recent outing against Istanbulpor, despite the fact that Raoul Petretta gave Kasimpasa the lead in the 25th minute.
Conceding goals has been an issue for them at home, having let in 17 throughout their eight matches which the team will want to address heading into Wednesday's match.
That form will go up against Alanyaspor's poor run away from home as the visitors have only won a single match on the road this season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Despite that, they do head into this game on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions which has seen the team pick up a trio of victories.
Alanyaspor's latest win took place last week when they defeated Kayserispor 3-1 with goals from Ahmed Mahgoub, Yusuf Ozdemir and Efecan Karaca sealing the three points.
That result helped the team progress to ninth in the table, but they do have the worst goal difference of any team in the top half, having conceded more than their opponents.
Alanyaspor will be looking to address that situation and then kick on, with a victory potentially moving them up one place if other results go in their favour.
Team News
The defensive partnership of Jeffrey Bruma and Tarkan Serbest could continue for Kasimpasa in midweek after the latter was preferred to Daniel Graovac in their latest game.
Meanwhile, Mortadha Ben Ouanes will likely retain his place on the left wing, especially due to the positive relationship he has formed with full-back Petretta.
For the visitors, it could be an unchanged starting XI following another impressive performance from the team resulting in a 3-1 victory last time out.
With goals across the field, there is plenty of reasons for the team to be kept together, but Idrissa Doumbia is an option again after serving his suspension.
Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:
Taskiran; Hadergjonaj, Bruma, Serbest, Petretta; Kara, Tirpan; Fall, Hajradinovic, Ben Ouanes; Bahoken
Alanyaspor possible starting lineup:
Runarsson; Fer, Bayir, Aksoy; Candeias, Gunes, Lusamba, Ozdemir; Karaca, Caveleiro; Hassan
We say: Kasimpasa 2-3 Alanyaspor
Neither of these teams have been defensively strong this season, and because of that, there will likely be plenty of goals for fans to enjoy in this one.
However, considering the form of each club right now it should be Alanyaspor that earns three points here.
