The Los Angeles Galaxy have claimed their first MLS win in four games with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders.
Alan Gordon's 23rd-minute flicked header from a free kick made the difference although the home side will feel indebted to goalkeeper Jamie Penedo, who made 10 saves in the match, a new MLS record.
The 33-year-old made two crucial early saves to deny striker Lamar Neagle, before Gordon put his side ahead with a neat finish minutes later on his 200th league appearance.
Neagle then forced the keeper into a fine low save just after the half-hour mark, but Seattle failed to find a breakthrough in the first half.
The Galaxy came close to doubling their lead shortly after the break, but Robbie Rogers was denied by a low Stefan Frei save at the near post before Juninho blasted the follow up marginally wide.
From there, the Sounders dominated, although Penedo continued to thwart them with a string of fine saves.
The result moves Los Angeles above Seattle in the Western Conference.
