Los Angeles Galaxy have defeated Colorado Rapids 2-0 at home in their Major League Soccer clash.
Galaxy started the game the brighter of the two sides and created their first chance after just three minutes.
Robbie Keane released Sean Franklin with a through ball but his right-footed shot from the right side of the Rapids' penalty box was off target.
The hosts had another good chance in the 13th minute Mike Magee saw his shot saved by Matt Pickens between the Rapids posts.
Two minutes later Galaxy went ahead when Keane latched onto Landon Donovan's pass and slotted home from close range.
The visitors could have restored parity moments later had Andre Akpan's shot from outside the area been on target.
With the remainder of the first half and the beginning of the second period seeing chances fall to both sides. Galaxy made the most of them when they doubled their lead in the 58th minute.
Christian Wilhelmsson was on target for Bruce Arena's team, as he shot home from outside the box after being fed by Marcelo Sarvas.
Rapids crafted a number of chances thereafter in an effort to stage a comeback but failed to manufacture anything productive, as Galaxy wrapped up a 2-0 win at the Home Depot Centre.
