Stefano Pioli has cited bad luck for the reason behind Lazio's Coppa Italia final defeat to Juventus on Wednesday night.
The Bianconeri wrapped up the second part of a potential treble this season with a 2-1 extra-time win, with Alessandro Matri's 97th-minute winner enough to seal victory.
Pioli's men struck the post on two occasions throughout the additional half-hour, and the Biancocelesti boss says that Lady Luck was not shining on his troops last night.
"It was a balanced game where both teams gave everything and played to win. Of course, to win you need a little bit of luck and we didn't have that," Pioli told Rai Sport.
"We deserved another result, but considering the worth of our opponents, I can only compliment my players.
"Unfortunately you play to win a final and it hurts to lose. This is football, it's made up of incidents and Juve made the most of that situation to score. My players played with quality and character."
Stefan Radu fired Lazio into a 1-0 lead after four minutes at their home stadium - Stadio Olimpico - before Giorgio Chiellini levelled on 11 minutes.
