Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Serie A clash between Torino and Lazio, including team news and predicted lineups.

Lazio will be looking to keep the pressure on Juventus at the top of Serie A when they continue their 2019-20 campaign away to Torino on Tuesday night.

The visitors are currently second in the table, four points behind leaders Juve, while Torino occupy 14th position, five points clear of the relegation zone in Italy's top flight.

Match preview

Nine wins, four draws and 15 defeats - that is how Torino have performed in Serie A during the 2019-20 campaign, with a total of 31 points leaving them in 14th position in the table.

The Turin side have not played outside of Italy's top flight since the 2011-12 campaign, while they actually finished seventh last term, losing just seven of heir 38 matches.

There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a struggle for the club this term, though, and they will enter Tuesday's match off the back of a 4-2 defeat at Cagliari on Saturday.

Moreno Longo's side are currently six points clear of the bottom three, which is far from a disastrous position, but their next two are against Lazio and Juve, which is likely to concern their supporters, who have seen their side lose 15 of their 28 league matches this term.

Lazio, meanwhile, are chasing down Juve at the top of the division, with the Rome giants currently occupying second position, four points off the Old Lady on the same number of matches (28).

Simone Inzaghi's side have impressively won 20 of their 28 league games this term, but they suffered a 3-2 defeat to an impressive Atalanta BC side on their return to action on June 24.

Lazio did manage to put three points on the board at the weekend, though, with Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto scoring the goals in a 2-1 success over Fiorentina at Stadio Olimpico.

I Biancocelesti would move to within a point of Juve if they triumph on Tuesday, although the reigning champions are in action on the same evening against Genoa.

Lazio, who won the last of their two Serie A titles in 2000, have impressed many with their performances this season, but they will need Juve to slip up if they are to wrestle the title away from Maurizio Sarri's side.

Team News

Torino will again be without the services of Simone Zaza and Daniele Baselli through injury, but the Turin side did not pick up any fresh concerns in their defeat at Cagliari on Saturday night.

Longo is expected to shuffle his pack for Tuesday's match, meaning that there could be a start for Simone Verdi alongside Andrea Belotti in the final third of the field.

Alex Berenguer should keep his spot, though, meaning that Ola Aina could drop to the bench.

As for Lazio, Danilo Cataldi, Lucas Leiva, Luiz Felipe, Bobby Adekanye and Senad Lulic are all still on the sidelines for the title hopefuls.

The bulk of the XI that started against Fiorentina are expected to once again take to the field, although there could be a change in the final third with Joaquin Correa replacing Felipe Caicedo.

Immobile has been in stunning form for Lazio this season - scoring 31 times in 35 appearances in all competitions - and the 30-year-old will lead the away side's line.

Torino possible starting lineup:
Sirigu; Izzo, N'Koulou, Bremer; De Silvestri, Meite, Rincon, Berenguer; Edera; Belotti, Verdi

Lazio possible starting lineup:
Strakosha; Patric, Acerbi, Bastos; Parolo; Jony, Alberto, Milinkovic-Savic, Lazzari; Immobile, Correa

We say: Torino 0-2 Lazio

Lazio will be determined to pick up all three points ahead of Juve's match later in the evening, and we are finding it difficult to back against the visitors, particularly considering Torino's struggles this term. Lazio recorded a 4-0 victory in the reverse clash earlier this season; we are expecting a closer game this time around but are still backing the title hopefuls to triumph.
