Lazio have released a statement denying that coach Vladimir Petkovic tendered his resignation following yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Atalanta in Serie A.
Petkovic was reported by RAI Sport to have left his post at the Stadio Olimpico late last night after his side slipped to a third loss in eight games.
The Aquile have moved to quell speculation that the Serb offered to resign, insisting that the rumours are nothing more than idle gossip.
An official club statement read: "With regards to the rumours, regarding the presumed resignation of Vladimir Petkovic, Lazio state that the news is without foundation."
Last season's Coppa Italia winners have endured a difficult start to the campaign, sitting ninth in the table after conceding 12 goals in eight matches.
