Leeds United striker Steve Morison squandered the only chance of note in a quiet opening 45 minutes at the Madejski Stadium this evening.
Nick Blackman cut inside from the left wing inside the opening 10 minutes only to take a tumble in the Leeds box, but referee Graham Scott waved away the Reading man's appeals for a penalty.
However, it proved to be something of a false start as the game slowed, with neither side creating much in front of goal.
A nasty collision between Danny Williams and Thomas Bianchi caused a lengthy break in play, with the Leeds man forced off to be replaced by Casper Sloth.
Leeds were nearly handed the lead by their hosts shortly before the break when Oliver Norwood's misplaced pass sent Morison through on goal, but the striker's shot struck the post.
