Everton defender John Heitinga has apologised to the club's fans following their League Cup exit to Leeds United on Tuesday.
The Premier League outfit were eliminated from the third round after losing 2-1 at Elland Road, but the Dutchman has vowed that they will "bounce back".
"We need to bounce back, especially for the fans. We came with 5,000 Evertonians, which was great. The support of them was really great. It was because of us that we lost, not them," the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News.
Everton currently occupy third spot in the Premier League table.
