Match Analysis: Leeds United 0-1 Queens Park Rangers

:Headline: Match Analysis: Leeds United 0-1 Queens Park Rangers: ID:102022: from db_amp
Sports Mole picks apart a second consecutive 1-0 away win for QPR as Harry Redknapp's men end Leeds United's unbeaten record to continue theirs.

Two unbeaten records went head-to-head in the Championship's lunchtime kickoff earlier today, and it was Leeds United who tasted defeat for the first time as Queens Park Rangers left Elland Road with all three points.

In a bitty 90 minutes between two stubborn sides, it was Clint Hill who scored the winner by side-footing home on the volley after a bit of penalty box pinball from Joey Barton's free kick.

Here, Sports Mole picks apart the match in West Yorkshire.

Match statistics:

Leeds:
Shots 12
On target 2
Possession 56%
Corners 8
Fouls 11

QPR:
Shots 16
On target 4
Possession 44%
Corners 4
Fouls 5

Was the result fair?

Just about, yes. Neither side particularly deserved a point but Rangers did look more threatening and it was another assured away performance from Harry Redknapp's team - their second straight hard-fought 1-0 win on the road.

Leeds's performance

Brian McDermott's side are definitely one of industry and the manager will be gutted to see his unbeaten run end at home. Leeds simply could not come up with anything creative enough to make a dent in Rangers' solid defence. Rodolph Austin's last-gasp volley from 30 yards hit the crossbar and would have sent Elland Road wild but it was not to be. With just a couple of days left in the transfer window, McDermott should target a wideman or two - they are lacking in that area. Games won't come much harder than against QPR this season and Leeds will hope that they aren't quite so blunt next time out.

QPR's performance

Another excellent away display from QPR. Defensively, in particular, the R's were very strong and restricted the likes of Ross McCormack to barely a sniff at goal. Hill's goal was a bit flukey but he took his chance well. The score should have been 1-0 much earlier too as Barton had a goal ruled out for offside when he was level with the last man. Redknapp said after the match that he was still looking to add players to his squad. If he does not manage to do so, then it's no tragedy as Rangers are very well equipped and are now joint-top.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Nedum Onuoha: The whole QPR backline - Danny Simpson, Onuoha, Richard Dunne and Hill - were excellent but Onuoha in particular shone. His athleticism was simply too much for the Leeds frontmen.

Biggest gaffe

Has to go to the linesman for failing to realise that Barton was onside when Gary O'Neil reversed it into the controversial character, who finished well.

Referee performance

Stuart Attwell had a decent game with the whistle. He was rarely called upon to make a tough call.

What next?

Leeds: An international break now takes over the first two weeks of September before Leeds go to rock bottom Bolton Wanderers on September 14.

QPR: Rangers welcome Birmingham to Loftus Road on the same day.
