A Jonjo Shelvey header has given Liverpool a 1-0 lead over Young Boys at half-time of their Europa League clash this evening.
The hosts enjoyed the first chance of the match after 26 minutes when Shelvey flicked the ball through to Jordan Henderson, but the England international's tame shot was straight at Marco Wolfli.
Liverpool wouldn't have to wait too much longer for the opening goal, however, as Suso combined with Joe Cole to allow the latter to cross the ball to Shelvey, who nodded home a simple chance.
Cole came close to getting his own name on the scoresheet just minutes later as his shot hit Martin Skrtel on its way towards the corner, but it was hacked clear by Raphael Nuzzolo just in time.
Cole was involved yet again for Liverpool's next chance, sliding a fine pass through to Suso, but the youngster's shot went just wide.
Liverpool will secure qualification from their group if everything stays the same.
