How Liverpool could line up against Shrewsbury Town

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up against Shrewsbury Town as Jurgen Klopp hands the reins to Neil Critchley for the FA Cup fourth-round replay.

Liverpool's youngsters will have another chance to impress when they get a run-out in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Shrewsbury came from two goals down in the initial tie to earn a money-spinning trip to Merseyside, overcoming a Liverpool team which contained a smattering of first-team stars.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has already confirmed that no senior players will take part in this game due to it coming in the midseason break, though, controversially leaving Neil Critchley to take the reins as the Under-23 team steps up again.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the contest.

Klopp's decision to not only prevent his first-team players from featuring in this match but also to miss the game himself has proved controversial, and it will result in an unfamiliar side taking to the Anfield turf on Tuesday.

It is not entirely uncharted territory, though, with Critchley having taken charge of an EFL Cup clash against Aston Villa in December while the main squad was at the Club World Cup.

Liverpool's youngest ever team fell to a 5-0 defeat on that occasion, but the scoreline was harsh on them and Critchley will be more confident of getting a result against League One opposition on home territory.

Several members of the Under-23 team have already begun to make their mark at senior level too, particularly Curtis Jones, who scored in the reverse fixture having netted a stunning winner against Everton in the third round.

Harvey Elliott, still just 16, is gaining more and more first-team experience too, while Pedro Chirivella, Ki-Jana Hoever, Yasser Larouci and Sepp van den Berg have also featured at this level before.

Hoever, who has only recently turned 18, faces a battle for right-back from the promising Neco Williams.

Other potential starters in this match - the likes of Rhian Brewster, Herbie Kane and Nat Phillips - left the club on loan during the January transfer window.
