Premier League champions Liverpool get their EFL Cup campaign underway on Thursday night when they face League One side Lincoln City at the LNER Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp's men have made a strong start to their league title defence, picking up two wins from two including a dominant 2-0 triumph over 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
What is sure to be a much-changed XI will still be firm favourites to see off Lincoln and progress to the fourth round, although the hosts are flying high in League One and have won all five of their competitive outings across all competitions this season.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.
Jordan Henderson
Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Quadriceps
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Lincoln)
Jordan Henderson was withdrawn at half time against Chelsea after complaining of a tight muscle and, while the injury is not thought to be serious, it is unlikely that Klopp will take any risks over his captain's fitness for this fixture.
Joe Gomez
Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Lincoln)
Joe Gomez picked up a knock in training which ruled him out of the Chelsea game at the weekend, but he is expected to have recovered in time for this match should he be required.
Joel Matip
Status: Out
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Everton)
Joel Matip was also injured in training ahead of the Chelsea game, although his is more serious than Gomez's and Klopp does not expect him back until after the international break.
Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Lincoln)
Xherdan Shaqiri was once again absent from the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge as he continues to edge closer to fitness after his latest injury setback, which could come in this match.
Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is Liverpool's longest-term absentee after picking up a knee injury in pre-season which is expected to keep him sidelined for the opening months of the campaign.
