The Hillsborough Justice Campaign has refused a £1,000 donation from comedian Alan Davies.
The QI panelist caused uproar after commenting on Liverpool's refusal to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
Davies has since apologised for any offence his comments may have caused and donated the money as a peace offering.
However, the HJC have said that the 46-year-old's understanding of why the club refuse to play on April 15 is more important than the money.
"The HJC has not accepted the £1,000 paid into its PayPal account by Alan Davies," read a statement from the charity.
"Whilst we accept his apology, we would prefer that he genuinely tried to understand why the decision never to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster is so important."
Liverpool will play their FA Cup semi-final against Everton on April 14.
