Matt Le Tissier questions Liverpool's management of Raheem Sterling after the teenager told England boss Roy Hodgson that he was too tired to start against Estonia.

Matt Le Tissier has questioned Liverpool's management of Raheem Sterling after the teenager told England boss Roy Hodgson that he was too tired to start against Estonia in yesterday's Euro 2016 qualifier.

The Three Lions boss revealed that Sterling claimed on Saturday that he didn't feel like he was in his best form because of fatigue.

As a result, Sterling was dropped to the bench and only featured in the second half of England's 1-0 win over Estonia last night.

Sterling has been a prominent figure within the Liverpool first team, but Le Tissier believes that manager Brendan Rodgers was wrong to keep the teenager on the field during the Reds' penalty shootout win over Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup last month.

Le Tissier tweeted: "If raheem is prone to tiredness perhaps playing him for 120 mins in capital one cup v boro wasnt a great idea."

Sterling is expected to be in the squad for this weekend's Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers.
