Liverpool will reportedly award a new contract to Marko Grujic before sending the midfielder on loan to Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin for the season.
The Serbia international rejected a year-long switch to Cardiff City earlier this summer as he was determined to fight for regular football at Anfield.
Following the summer arrivals of Naby Keita and Fabinho, however, that now looks unlikely as Grujic was not involved at all against West Ham United last weekend.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the 22-year-old will instead spend the season with Hertha, but only after putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal with the Reds.
Grujic helped Cardiff to promotion from the Championship last time out, featuring 13 times in the second half of the campaign.
