Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has decided against sending youngster Raheem Sterling out on loan this season.
The 17-year-old was originally thought to be allowed to leave the club on a temporary basis to gain more experience.
However, following the winger's impressive performance in the Reds' 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday, Rodgers has other plans for the teen.
"I am certain over the next few years that he will develop into a very good footballer," Sky Sports News quotes Rodgers as saying.
"We just have to make sure that we keep the pressure off him. He certainly won't be going on loan and I believe that if we can help and nurture him in the right way, then he will be a very good player for Liverpool."
The Jamaican-born player began his youth career at West Ham United.
