Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly attempted to hijack Liverpool's bid to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka by moving for the Ukrainian themselves.
Reds managing director Ian Ayre is said to have flown to the Ukraine to tie up a deal for the Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger, but Spurs are hoping to beat the Merseyside club to his signature, The Telegraph reports.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers turned his attention to Konoplyanka after missing out on Egyptian international Mohamed Salah to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Spurs have a history of hijacking potential Liverpool transfers, having signed Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey from under their noses in the past.
Konoplyanka's father Oleg previously hinted that Liverpool are on the verge of signing his son.
