Liverpool defender Daniel Agger says that teammate Raheem Sterling should be part of England's squad for this summer's World Cup.

Daniel Agger has said that Liverpool teammate Raheem Sterling should be included in England's World Cup squad for this summer's tournament in Brazil.

The winger has scored six goals in the Premier League for his club this season, and earned his second cap for his country during England's recent win over Denmark at Wembley.

The defender, who played for the visitors during the international friendly, told Politiken: "He can handle the pressure. Otherwise, he would not play for Liverpool. It is a fantastic opportunity for him.

"In case he continues like he is doing right now, I can't see any reasons why he should not get a place in the squad for the World Cup. He is a big talent and got qualities that England need.

"Everyone can see that he is very quick and he is technically skilled, too. He has got experience from the best league and that is what really matters for a young player like him. To come on and get some matches to prove yourself. In any case, he got what you need to deliver."

Roy Hodgson is due to name his 23-man squad for the tournament on May 13.
