Sports Mole previews Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and Rangers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Two teams at opposing ends of the Scottish Premiership table will meet on Sunday as second-placed Rangers make the trip to face Livingston.

The hosts currently sit second from bottom, but three points this weekend could take them out of the relegation zone depending on other results.

Match preview

Livingston have struggled so far this season, having won just two out of their opening 12 matches this season which has left the club in the relegation zone.

The Lions struggled defensively, conceding 19 times already, while at the other end of the field, they have only managed to score nine goals, which is the second-worst attacking output in the division.

David Martindale was once again unable to manage his team to find the back of the net during their last outing as they were beaten 1-0 by Dundee.

That is something that Livingston will be aiming to try and change, especially after three matches in a row without managing to score.

With the Lions having lost four games on the bounce heading into this match there is a lack of confidence in the squad at the moment, but a shock result against the Gers could change that.

Meanwhile, belief and momentum is flowing for the visitors as they are unbeaten since Philippe Clement took charge of the club, a run which continued in midweek.

Rangers were able to defeat Sparta Prague following goals from Danilo and Todd Cantwell, with the attacking side of the team having no problems flexing their muscles as of late.

The Gers have scored 24 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, but they have not let that come at the expense of their defensive performances.

In fact, Rangers have only conceded a single goal on the road to this point in the league, showcasing the qualities that they have at the back as well.

Clement's men still have a lot of work to do should they want to claim the title at the end of the season as they trail Celtic by eight points, meaning there is no margin for error right now.

Team News

Michael Nottingham had a nightmare return after two months on the shelf against Dundee last weekend as he ended up being stretched off the field, and while the situation is not expected to be as bad as first feared, the defender will not be available on Sunday.

Jack Hamilton managed to retain his place in goal for the Lions in their most recent outing, and after another impressive performance, he could continue keeping Shamal George on the sidelines.

Ben Davies was brought into the starting lineup for Rangers in midweek as Leon Balogun missed out, and he could once again partner Connor Goldson at the weekend.

At the other end of the pitch, Danilo should be leading the line as a lone striker for the Gers due to his impressive efforts as of late.

Livingston possible starting lineup:
Hamilton; Welch-Hayes, Devlin, Se. Kelly, Penrice; Shinnie, Pittman, Sangare, Holt; Anderson, Nouble

Rangers possible starting lineup:
Butland; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Yilmaz; Cantwell, Lundstram; Wright, Lammers, Sima; Danilo

We say: Livingston 0-4 Rangers

While Livingston will look to be defensively strong at home on Sunday, competing against one of the strongest teams in the league could prove to be a step too far.

Rangers have been in dominant and impressive form as of late, and that level of confidence should allow them to comfortably claim all three points.
