Wigan Athletic stunned Manchester City in the FA Cup again on Sunday as they earned a 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.
Jordi Gomez's first-half penalty put the Latics ahead before James Perch doubled their advantage at the start of the second half.
Samir Nasri pulled a goal back for City with 20 minutes left to play, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
Read Sports Mole's minute-by-minute report below to find out how all of the action unfolded.
Hello there and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of this afternoon's FA Cup quarter-final as Manchester City entertain Wigan Athletic at the Etihad Stadium. Team news will be coming through in the next few minutes...
We've already seen one quarter-final get done and dusted today as Sheffield United beat Charlton Athletic 2-0 at Bramall Lane to book their place in the last four of the competition. Hull City and Sunderland are currently squaring off at the KC Stadium where it's 0-0 with the second half about to get underway.
MAN CITY: Pantilimon; Richards, Demichelis, Lescott, Clichy; Navas, Toure, Garcia, Nasri; Negredo, Aguero
Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini makes six changes following last weekend's win in the League Cup final. Joleon Lescott and Gael Clichy are chosen in defence, while Jesus Navas, Javi Garcia and Alvaro Negredo all return.
MAN CITY SUBS: Hart, Kompany, Kolarov, Rodwell, Milner, Silva, Dzeko
WIGAN: Carson; Perch, Boyce, Ramis, Crainey; McCann, McArthur, McEachran, McManaman, Gomez; Fortune
WIGAN SUBS: Al Habsi, Rogne, Barnett, Holgersson, Espinoza, McClean, Maynard
Wigan boss Uwe Rosler also makes six changes to his starting XI following last weekend's emphatic 4-1 win at Nottingham Forest in the Championship. Scott Carson, Ivan Ramis, Stephen Crainey, Josh McEachran, Callum McManaman and Marc-Antoine Fortune are all given the nod by the German.
It should be a fairly emotional day for Rosler as he faces a club where he spent four years as a player during the 1990s. The striker was a popular figure among Blues supporters and they are likely to pay tribute to the 45-year-old this afternoon.
While Rosler's involvement produces an interesting sub-plot, the main feature of today's match is that it is a repeat of last year's final. Wigan fans won't be forgetting that game in a hurry as Ben Watson's late header saw the Latics stun everyone by warning a 1-0 victory. They've done a good job of defending their trophy this season and can book themselves another trip to Wembley Stadium if they beat City again.
And here is that goal from Watson that helped Wigan win the FA Cup:
Wigan boss Uwe Rosler speaking with BBC Sport: "I would be lying if I said no, but I have to make sure that the professional side takes over and not the emotional side.
"That will be my personal focus on the day - to look to enjoy the occasion, but to make sure I'm absolutely concentrated on the job in hand."
UPDATE: It's all changed at the KC Stadium since half time as Hull City now lead Sunderland 3-0 with just over 10 minutes left to play.
HEAD TO HEAD: As you might expect it's Man City who lead Wigan when it comes to past meetings between these teams. The Blues have won 14 encounters compared to Wigan's six. There have also been four draws. They have already faced each other this season when Man City recorded an emphatic 5-0 win at the Etihad Stadium in the League Cup back in September.
If you take away Wigan's victory in last season's FA Cup final, Man City have won their last nine games against the Latics. Will they continue their dominance this afternoon? It's hard to look beyond Manuel Pellegrini's side getting the win, though the Cup always has a trick or two up its sleeve.
The FA Cup semi-final draw is actually going to be made in just a moment at Wembley Stadium, so stay tuned as they pull the remaining names out of the hat. Who will the winner of this match be facing? Arsenal and Sheffield United are already through, while Hull City have all but booked their place in the last four.
UPDATE: The full-time whistle has just gone at the KC Stadium, where Hull have definitely sealed their spot in the semi-finals with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sunderland.
As we await the semi-final draw, both sets of players are starting to emerge in the tunnel. It's a gloriously sunny day in Manchester and the Etihad Stadium is rocking. Not long to go now until this one kicks off.
FA CUP SEMI-FINAL DRAW:
Hull City vs. Sheffield United
Man City/Wigan vs. Arsenal
That's a very intriguing semi-final draw as the winner of this match will face Arsenal. The other tie pits Hull City with Sheffield United.
KICKOFF! Right, back to business. The teams are out, the pre-match pleasantries have been done, and it will be Wigan to get us underway. Here we go!
It's been a decent start from Wigan as they begin with plenty of positivity. They manage to create an opening on the edge of the Man City box but Gomez can only blaze high over the crossbar with his effort. For those who might be interested, Manuel Pellegrini is down on the touchline in a fetching hoodie.
Wigan's promising opening looks to have been halted by Man City, who are now controlling possession and looking to push further up the pitch. However, they are yet to create any good opportunities in the final third.
There's plenty of patient build-up play from Man City at the moment as they try to pick through the Wigan defence. The visitors aren't sitting back too deeply, but they're organised and confident on the ball.
Man City try in vain to create something around the penalty area as Toure's attempted pass over the top is cut out byt the Wigan defence. This is a fairly even contest at the moment, though the hosts are marginally on top. However, they're struggling to make anything happen up top.
Wigan are looking to take a bit of the tempo out of this match right now, which is probably a good tactic. Man City are playing with plenty of pace and intent. Considering what's at stake for these two teams you would have expected a better atmosphere inside the Etihad Stadium. It's just a bit on the flat side.
We've had 20 minutes in this FA Cup quarter-final and it's been disappointing so far from a Man City perspective. The hosts have seen plenty of the ball, though they've yet to click into gear up front. Meanwhile, Wigan are looking confident when in possession. It's hard to see where the first goal is going to come from.
CHANCE! Close to an opening goal for Man City as Toure threads a wonderful ball through to Navas out on the right side. The Spaniard punches a cross into the heart of the Wigan box that Ramis almost diverts into his own net, but Carson is able to get down and thwart the danger.
This is a fairly ominous spell of Man City pressure from Wigan's point of view. The hosts are starting to get their creative juices flowing and are getting through the opposition defence as a result. Uwe Rosler is down on the touchline barking at his players ferociously.
PENALTY TO WIGAN!
GOAL! MAN CITY 0-1 WIGAN (GOMEZ, PENALTY)
Would you believe it?! Wigan take the lead thanks to Jordi Gomez's calm penalty after Martin Demichelis had chopped down Marc-Antoine Fortune. There were no complaints regarding the decision to award the penalty - it was definitely a foul. Are the Latics going to record another famous win against City?
That goal has certainly woken up the Etihad Stadium. The Wigan fans are making a right old racket in their corner of the ground. On the pitch the visitors are looking pretty confident. Going in front seems to have relaxed them.
Of course Man City were in a similar position to this just one week ago when they found themselves 1-0 down against Sunderland in the League Cup final. It took them a while to get going that day and it seems to be the same story this afternoon. If they're going to go back to Wembley Stadium they will have to do it the hard way.
YELLOW CARD! That's petulant from Samir Nasri as he goes into the book for hoofing the ball away in frustration after play had been stopped for a Wigan free kick.
Five minutes left to play in this half and Man City are getting frustrated. One or two of their players do not look happy right now as they struggle to find a way into this match. Manuel Pellegrini is going to have to breath life into them during his half-time team talk because this has not been good enough.
Still no sign of a real response from the home side, who continue to look sluggish when going forward. Could it be down to tiredness? They've made a few changes today so that should be no excuse for this kind of performance.
There will be two minutes of added time at the end of the half...
HALF TIME: MAN CITY 0-1 WIGAN
Referee Anthony Taylor blows the half-time whistle to bring an end to a successful opening 45 minutes for Wigan Athletic. They lead Man City 1-0 thanks to Jordi Gomez's penalty in the 27th minute. The Championship side have been organised so far, while the hosts have been well below par.
Where do Man City go from here? They won't be panicking just yet, but they've offered very little so far in the way of attacking football. Luckily for Manuel Pellegrini he can call on David Silva and Edin Dzeko if he needs to, though he was probably hoping to rest Silva ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona.
If you missed it earlier, the FA Cup semi-draw has pitted the winner of this match against Arsenal. The other tie will see Sheffield United take on Hull City.
SECOND HALF UNDERWAY! The players are back out for the second half and Wigan have made a change as Barnett replaces McCann. No changes at the break for Man City, who kick us off.
GOAL! MAN CITY 0-2 WIGAN (PERCH)
Oh my word! Wigan now have a 2-0 lead as James Perch arrives at the back post to convert Callum McManaman's cross! McManaman just breezed past the Man City defence there before firing a pass towards the back post where Perch was able to tap in.
YELLOW CARD! Man City's stand-in captain Yaya Toure now goes into the book after chopping down McManaman. That was pure frustration from Toure.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini is going all out here, bringing on Milner, Silva and Dzeko in one go. The players to make way are Navas, Negredo and Toure. Interesting changes from the Chilean.
There's still little in the way of a response from Man City. They're seeing a bit more of the ball in Wigan's half, but the visitors are continuing to defend resolutely and look dangerous on the counter-attack. Are they going to pull off another shock victory?
SUBSTITUTION: Wigan's second change sees McClean enter the action in place of McManaman, who has ran his socks off this afternoon. Just over 30 minutes remaining at the Etihad Stadium.
This match has started to get scrappy as both teams struggle to hold onto the ball. Possession is switching from one side to another, but that is only going to suit Wigan. What they don't want is for Man City to find their rhythm and control the tie. It's not looking good for the hosts at the moment, though they are more than capable of coming back from this regardless of how their performance has been so far today.
OFF THE POST! What an opportunity for Man City get back in this match! Clichy's cross was headed back across goal by Dzeko, but his effort came off the woodwork. Is that the moment the hosts start to up the tempo?
CHANCE! This is promising stuff from a Man City perspective as they threaten the Wigan goal once again. This time a cross was floated in from the right towards Aguero, who saw his low volley saved by Carson. The goalkeeper hasn't had a lot to do this afternoon, though he needed to be alert there.
SUBSTITUTION: Wigan make another change as Espinoza comes on for McEachran. The Latics have around 25 minutes to hold on.
GOAL! MAN CITY 1-2 WIGAN (NASRI)
Is this the start of a Man City comeback?! They cut the deficit in this FA Cup quarter-final thanks to a belter from Samir Nasri! Wigan failed to clear their lines from a corner, and there was the Frenchman on the edge of the box to hit a low drive past Carson and into the back of the net. The whole atmosphere has changed inside the Etihad Stadium.
Man City are now looking very menacing. It's as if that goal has woken them up from some kind of slumber. A note on Nasri's goal: There was a suspicion of offside as Lescott looked to be interfering with play by standing in front of Carson, though nothing was given by the officials. Only time will tell if that makes a difference to this game.
You get the feeling that Man City are going to bombard the Wigan goal for the last 15 minutes of this game. The visitors have hardly left their own half in the past 10 minutes, probably a sign of things to come.
YELLOW CARD! James Milner goes into the book for a high boot on Roger Espinoza. The Man City midfielder is complaining about Anthony Taylor's decision, though it's hard to see why.
MISS! That should be 2-2 but Dzeko somehow misses from close range! It was Milner who drilled a cross in from the right before the striker put the ball over the bar from about four yards. Credit must go to Boyce though because the Wigan defender did really well to put Dzeko off.
CHANCES! Two opportunities in quick succession for Man City as Aguero sees his low shot palmed away by Carson before Dzeko heads over a Milner cross. Carson then goes into the book for wasting time. Hold onto your hats, it's going to be a mad final five minutes...
Wigan are using every trick in the book to run this clock down. As a result, the frustration is growing from the Man City players and fans. Time is slipping away from the Blues. However, they're still throwing everyone forward in an attempt to find an equaliser.
Here we go then. The fourth official indicates that there will be FIVE MINUTES of added time. Can Man City snatch an equaliser right at the death?
Two minutes of the added five have already gone and Man City are still pushing hard to force a replay. However, they're failing to create any clear chances. Espinoza goes into the book for Wigan.
Just one minute left...
FULL TIME: MAN CITY 1-2 WIGAN
Amazing stuff at the Etihad Stadium as Wigan hold on to beat Man City 2-1! It looked touch and go towards the end there as the hosts piled on the pressure, but the away side was able to stay form and record another famous win in this competition.
This result means that Wigan will face Arsenal in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium. The winner of that match will meet either Sheffield United or Hull City in the final.
