Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
Sports Mole

Manchester City will be aiming to make it six straight wins in all competitions when they head to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Citizens secured their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday courtesy of a 5-0 success at home to Huddersfield Town.

Pep Guardiola's side will now return to league action, bidding to build on their wins over Everton and Sheffield United since returning from the Club World Cup, and they currently sit third in the table, five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Newcastle, who have dropped down into ninth spot in the table due to a disappointing run of form.

Erling Haaland

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: January 26 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Haaland has missed his side's last eight matches in all competitions with a "bone stress reaction" in his foot, and the Norway international will again be absent for this game.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Stones will again be absent for Man City this weekend due to an ankle injury, and it is unlikely that the England international will be available until late January or early February.

Bernardo Silva

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Newcastle)

Bernardo was not involved in the FA Cup clash with Huddersfield due to illness, but the Portugal international is expected to be back in the squad for the clash with Newcastle.

Kalvin Phillips

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Newcastle)

Phillips was also absent for the game with Huddersfield due to illness, but the midfielder is expected to have recovered in time to make the squad for this game.

Manuel Akanji

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Newcastle)

Akanji had to be substituted in the early stages of the clash with Huddersfield due to a knee problem, and the defender is therefore a major doubt for the game at St James' Park.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no suspended players for this match.
