Relive Wolves' memorable 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium as a late double by Adama Traore leaves the champions eight points behind Liverpool.

Manchester City's title hopes took a major blow this afternoon as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, leaving them eight points behind Liverpool after eight games.

The visitors scored with their only two shots on target as Adama Traore caught them on the break twice late on, with Wolves pulling off a memorable smash-and-grab victory.

Man City were far from their best, boasting 76% possession but managing only two shots on target themselves in an uncharacteristically turgid display from the champions.

Find out how all of the action unfolded courtesy of our minute-by-minute updates below.

Good afternoon! Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for today's Premier League clash between Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers!

The champions have won five games in a row across all competitions since their shock defeat to Norwich last month and know that anything less than victory here would nudge the title even closer to Anfield after Liverpool opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the table in dramatic fashion yesterday. Wolves posed the big clubs serious problems last season but have fared worse so far this term, although they did finally pick up their first win of the campaign last weekend.

Kickoff is just five minutes away, so let's check out the team news...

MAN CITY STARTING XI: Ederson; Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Cancelo; Rodrigo, Gundogan, D Silva;, Sterling, Mahrez, Aguero

SUBS: Bravo, G Jesus, Zinchenko, Angelino, Bernardo, Foden, E Garcia

WOLVES STARTING XI: Patricio; Boly, Boady, Saiss; Traore, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Neves, Vinagre; Jimenez, Cutrone

SUBS: Ruddy, Doherty, Vallejo, Bennett, Gibbs-White, Jonny, Kilman

KICKOFF:  Here we go! Wolves get us underway at the Etihad!
Man City make their first break forward within three minutes as Sterling gets in behind and gives the ball to Aguero, who can't get a shot away which tests Patricio. Moments later Sterling is in again down the left channel but again they fail to make the most of it with his cross being cut out.
CHANCE!  BIG chance for Wolves to stun the Etihad early on here! One ball forward beats the entire defence and suddenly Cutrone finds himself clean through on goal with only Ederson to beat. The striker never looks entirely comfortable, though, and his eventual effort is dreadful as he slices it well wide of the target.
Wolves may not get a better chance than that all day. It seemed to take everyone by surprise that Cutrone found himself so clear through but he fluffed his lines completely.
Mahrez creates space to whip a cross into the box and Sterling almost gets his head to it, but it is just a couple of inches too high for him and Patricio collects.
Concern for Wolves here as Saiss goes down clutching his hamstring. He went down after the ball had gone too, with no contact from a Man City player, so it looks as though the visitors may be forced into an early change.
It is not always a good idea to try to run off a hamstring injury, but that is exactly what Saiss is trying to do here. He will continue!
WOLVES SUB: ...but not for long. Saiss trudges off with that hamstring injury and on comes Ryan Bennett in his place.
UPDATE: There are two other Premier League games going on right now and the first goal has gone in, with David Luiz opening his Arsenal account against Bournemouth.
UPDATE: ...and there has been a goal in the other too, with Tammy Abraham celebrating his England call-up with the opener against Southampton.
CHANCE!  Half a chance for Man City as Boly can only half-clear a cross into the box, sending his header straight to Mahrez. The Algerian goes for goal first time, but Coady is in the way and blocks it before it can test the keeper.
CHANCE!  Wolves go straight up the other end and create a chance of their own, with Mahrez's wayward pass leaving Jimenez to bear down on goal. The Mexican bundles his way past Otamendi but then sees his shot blocked by Fernandinho, who makes a second important block to deny Cutrone's follow-up shot. Brilliant from the makeshift defender.
That is two times Wolves have got in through the middle now and, while both were a little bit lucky, it is something City will want to keep an eye on. Their entire defence has been beaten too easily on both occasions.
CHANCE!  And again here! Once more it is Jimenez who is left to race through on goal, advancing into the box but delaying his shot too long until Fernandinho gets back. Jimenez wants a penalty for the foul, but the referee says no and VAR agrees.
I've just seen a replay of that penalty appeal and the referee did get it right. It risked being clumsy from Fernandinho, but it would have been a very soft spot kick - Jimenez simply needed to pull the trigger earlier.
UPDATE: The Chelsea youngsters just keep on impressing! Mason Mount has joined Abraham on the scoresheet to make it 2-0 to Chelsea.
SHOT!  Jimenez is causing Man City problems here! He skips past Cancelo on the right this time and fizzes a low pass into the box which ends up at the feet of Vinagre. He has time to take a touch and go for goal, but he drags his shot a bit and it hits an offside Cutrone on the way through.
Man City just have not been at their best in this opening half-hour or so today. They are struggling to create anything of note going forward, while defensively they look really shaky.
SHOT!  Man City win a free kick in a good position and Gundogan goes for goal, but it is always curling away and ends up a good few yards wide of the target.
UPDATE: Southampton have pulled a goal back against Chelsea, with Danny Ings halving the deficit at St Mary's.
SAVE!  City have been a bit off-colour, but they can spring into action so quickly. Here Sterling collects the ball, turning quickly and then unleashing a fine effort which Patricio needs to beat away from his goal.
SHOT!  Now it is Cancelo who tries his luck from range and he catches the strike well, but it fizzes high and wide of the near post.
This is better from Man City now. Cancelo is again involved here as he stands the ball up to the back post, where Aguero is waiting to nod it back across goal. Sterling is lurking, but Coady has read the play really well and clears the danger.
UPDATE: Chelsea have restored their two-goal margin, with N'Golo Kante getting a third five minutes before half time.
Man City have had 70% of the possession in this first half, but it is Wolves who have had the better chances. The home side's pressure is beginning to grow now, but Patricio has only been forced into one comfortable save so far.
Wolves will just want to weather any late siege before half time here, but they will also have a feeling of missed opportunity from this first half. They have had three openings which they really should have made more of, and you have to think that Man City will be better in the second half.
SAVE!  Walker is the latest to have a go from long range and he strikes it well towards the bottom corner, but Patricio is across quickly to make a good save, crucially hanging on to it too.
There will be two minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
HALF TIME:  MAN CITY 0-0 WOLVES
An intriguing first half comes to an end at the Etihad Stadium, then, and we are still goalless between Manchester City and Wolves.

Man City have not been at their free-flowing best in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and, despite seeing the vast majority of possession, it is the visitors who have created the best chances.

Wolves have been through on goal on three separate occasions without punishing an under-par Man City, with Cutrone the first at fault when he produced a dreadful finish after just four minutes.

Jimenez has also been in twice, but he was denied by a Fernandinho block before Cutrone's follow-up strike suffered the same fate.

By contrast, Man City have largely been limited to long-range efforts so far, the best of which have come from Sterling and Walker to force Patricio into a couple of routine saves.

Gundogan and Cancelo have also missed the target with shots from range, but there has been much less of the incisive passing we are used to seeing from Guardiola's side.

KICKOFF:  Man City get us back underway for the start of the second half!
David Silva darts in behind and is found by Otamendi's pass forward, but the Spaniard's attempted cross back into the middle is miscued and goes straight behind for a goal kick. It just is not happening for City right now.
There was a change at half time, by the way, with Oleksandr Zinchenko coming on in place of Walker and Cancelo moving over to the right.
YELLOW CARD!  Two yellow cards from Craig Pawson as first Rodri goes into the book for a foul on behind to stop Cutrone on the break, while Cancelo had committed a foul earlier in the move which the ref revisits with a card.
Another encouraging attack from Wolves as Jimenez puts a cross into the box for Cutrone, who is denied a clear header by Cancelo. The Wolves striker can only hoist it up into the air, allowing Ederson to claim it, but the visitors are causing problems when they do come forward.
Man City certainly have not been at their best today, but Wolves also deserve credit for the way they are defending. A team that has scored 27 goals in their opening seven league games has simply not been given a sniff so far.
VAR have just had a check on a Fernandinho challenge on Cutrone off the ball, looking for a potential red card, but it only required a quick look to decide it wasn't. Those two have clashed three times in quick succession now, though, so an interesting battle to keep an eye on.
Man City have edged their way up to 75% possession now, but still nothing has comes of it - or even looks like coming of it. Wolves may begin to tire as we approach the final half-hour, by right now the hosts are finding things very difficult.
MAN CITY SUB: Guardiola has seen enough here and makes his second change of game with Bernardo Silva replacing Mahrez.
YELLOW CARD!  The frustration is just starting to grow in Man City now, and Ederson talks himself into the book for complaining about a free kick given against David Silva.
A good spell of possession now for Man City as they try to ramp up the pressure. It is so congested in the middle of the park, though, and Wolves are defending really well.
Man City are really beginning to knock on the door now! They have Wolves pinned right back into their own half and the visitors just cannot get out at the moment.
Neves brings Silva down right on the edge of the area, and City now have a free kick in a very good position...
OFF THE BAR!  It may take a moment of magic for City to find the breakthrough here, and Silva almost provides it with a free kick which crashes against the crossbar with Patricio rooted to the spot!
CHANCE!  Man City keep the pressure on and Aguero and Sterling both have shooting chances which are blocked in a mini-scramble before David Silva fires over with a volley from a tight angle.
WOLVES SUB: Time for some defensive reinforcements for Wolves as Matt Doherty replaces Cutrone.
YELLOW CARD!  Gundogan is the latest name in the book for a cynical trip on Traore to stop another Wolves break.
Every single cross into the box is finding a Wolves head at the moment. They are clearing everything and Man City just cannot find a way through here.
WOLVES SUB: Another change for Wolves here as Jonny replaces Vinagre.
MAN CITY SUB: A third and final throw of the dice for Pep Guardiola - on comes Gabriel Jesus for David Silva.
CHANCE!  That was almost the moment for Man City! Jesus finds the overlapping Cancelo, who in turn pulls a low pass back for Bernardo. The Portuguese midfielder looks certain to score, but his shot hits a combination of Aguero and Bennett just in front of the keeper.
YELLOW CARD!  Fernandinho goes into the book for a late challenge on Traore.
As you might imagine, Man City are seeing pretty much all of the ball right now, but Wolves are battling for everything and are not giving anything up easily here.
GOAL!  MAN CITY 0-1 WOLVES (ADAMA TRAORE)
GOAL!  Incredible scenes at the Etihad! Wolves hit the champions on the counter and take the lead, stunning the Etihad in the process!

Jimenez does brilliantly to carry the ball forward - aided by a rash attempt at a tackle from Otamendi - before giving it to Traore, who keeps his cool to slide the ball past Ederson.

SAVE!  Man City look to respond immediately and Jesus almost does exactly that, only to be denied by a good save from Patricio after his cross had gone all the way through.
SHOT!  Cancelo tries his luck now and ripples the side-netting with a well-struck effort from range!
YELLOW CARD!  Neves picks up a yellow card for a challenge on Sterling, but the Wolves midfielder has come off worse here. The visitors have made all three changes so need him to stay on here.
YELLOW CARD!  Moutinho slides in on Bernardo and picks up a booking for his troubles, giving Man City another free kick in a dangerous crossing position...

There will be five minutes of added time at the end of this match - although I'm not sure where they have come from!
CHANCE!  Half a chance for Man City to rescue at least a point here as Aguero collects the ball in the area and gets a show away on the turn, but he puts it wide of the target.
GOAL!  MAN CITY 0-2 WOLVES (ADAMA TRAORE)
GOAL!  Wolves hit Man City on the break once again to make sure of the points! Jimenez again releases the pace of Traore, who bears down on goal and never looks like missing as he fires past Ederson for a second time!
FULL TIME:  MAN CITY 0-2 WOLVES
It is advantage Liverpool in the Premier League title race big time! Jurgen Klopp's side will go into the international break with an eight-point lead at the top of the table as Man City lose 2-0 at home to Wolves!

The champions were nowhere near their best, but credit must also go to Wolves for a brilliant game plan and some heroic defending. Adama Traore's two late counter-attack goals earn them a famous win, leaving Man City with their first home league defeat of the year.

Right, that is all we have time for this afternoon!

Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for today's remarkable game as Wolves beat champions Man City at the Etihad, leaving Pep Guardiola's side eight points off the pace. I will leave you with our match report, and be sure to stick around for reaction too.

From me, though, it is goodbye for now!
